Abstract

ABSTRACT

The importance attached to religious beliefs is so great that religion is linked with every aspect of life. In fact, music goes hand in hand with religion. In Nigeria and Africa in general all aspects of life ranging from birth to death are believed to be integrated with music making. Music unquestionably the dominated feature of traditional worship in Nigeria. Religious music is sacred and believed to have extra-ordinary powers.

The paper intends to look at music, and culture. The role of music in religion, the role of music in culture and the role of music in achieving reconciliation in Nigeria will be looked into and finally, a summary and conclusion.
