The traditional African woman engages in functions which revolve basically around members of the nucleus family. In conflict situations, this role is challenged as families scatter in situations of unexpected attack. Conflicts usually arise when feuding parties fail to arrive at a concensus as a result of a failed bargaining process. The outcome is poverty, unemployment, loss of life, hunger, ill-health and poor education. It is thus pertinent that both parties in a bargaining process persevere to reach a concensus in order to avoid the repercussions of conflict. Govenments should endeavor to provide relief programmes to cater for those affected by the conflict and as much as possible, conflict should be proactively avoided.
