Mr. Agunbiade has participated in several research projects with some high scholars which assisted him to develop an independent and intuitive mind to carry out research in considerable fields in physics and materials science. During his bachelor’s degree at the University of Ado Ekiti, he conducted a research in the experimental condensed matter aspect of physics (semiconductors). His project was focused on “the effect of temperature and thickness on the hall mobility of cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin films” under the supervision of a professor of condensed matter physics .
Immediately after his first degree in physics, Mr. Agunbiade proceeded to the Department of Physics & Electronics, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State for his one year mandatory national service. Later, he was engaged in the aspect of the theoretical modelling and computer simulation of metals during his master’s degree in physics (University of Ibadan) under the supervision of two researchers, a professor of computational condensed matter physics and a senior lecturer of theoretical physics. He worked on “modified analytic embedded-atom method interatomic potential for body centred-cubic transition metals.” Where he employed a semi-empirical approach called embedded-atom method (EAM), which takes its root from density functional theory to compute several thermodynamic, structural and defect properties of these metals.
Mr. Agunbiade started his teaching career with Afe Babalola International Study Centre, Ibadan (Affiliated with Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti) from 2012 to 2016. There, he was preparing students for both JUPEB and Advanced Level Cambridge Physics and Mathematics examinations. He later joined the services of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (Department of Physics), Nigeria, as a Teaching and Research Assistant for an internship under a professor of theoretical and computational condensed matter physics from 2016 to 2019. During his internship at EKSU, he taught several undergraduate courses among which are; properties of matter, mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, statistical & quantum mechanics, solid state physics, computational and mathematical methods in physics. Moreover, the semi-empirical model (embedded-atom method, EAM) used during his master’s degree with other new techniques were extended to investigate the metallic binary alloys of various crystalline materials. In addition, he has attended various trainings among which was “The Advanced School on Applications of First Principles and Molecular Simulations in Physical Sciences” organised by Faculty of Physics, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany and International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy in conjunction with the Department of Physics, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. During this training, he learnt several simulation models like first principles calculations, MD simulation and others.
His ability to publish in international learned journals was developed which has assisted him to publish the outputs of his research in recognised international indexed journals. As a result of his good deal of originality and initiative with excellent oral and communication skills in English Language he has produced some research publications. Presently, he has eleven (11) publications already appeared in various journals. While another two (2) are accepted and in press for publication, four (4) are currently undergoing review.
Mr. Agunbiade has won several prizes and awards among which are;
(i). Ekiti State Scholarship Award for Exceptional Researchers - 2018
(ii). Ekiti State Postgraduate Scholarship Award for M.Sc. Students - 2013
(iii). Best graduating student for 2008/2009 session in the Department of Physics, University of Ado Ekiti - 2010
(iv). Odua Investment Group of Company Scholarship Award, 2007 – 2009
(v). Ekiti State Scholarship Award for Undergraduate Students, 2007 – 2009
(vi). Ekiti Parapo Association of New York Scholarship Award - 2008.
Mr. Agunbiade is a faculty member of Babcock Univesity (Department of Basic Sciences, Physics & Electronics Unit), Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria. He is currently a graduate teaching and research student for his PhD programme at the Department of Physics & Astronomy, University of Kansas, Lawrence, United States.
He is happily married with two wonderful children.
