Abstract
It is a great pleasure for us to prepare this publication which is in honour of an astute scholar, Professor 'Wale Osisanwo', as he clocks seven decades. To celebrate this linguistic icon, amiable teacher of teachers, a holistic Professor of profound and sound intellectual repute in Grammar, Stylistics, Pragmatics, Semantics, this book has been compiled to present different scholarly explorations into evolving issues in education, language and literary studies. .
The book is divided into three main parts namely: Evolving Discourses in Languages, Pedagogical Issues and Evolving Discourses in Literature with a total of twenty one papers. The various topics treated in these major areas of research will be of immense value to students and teachers of Education, linguistics and literature in colleges and universities as they will be provided with updates in the current and burning issues that can enrich their academic yearnings.
It is common to praise people when they are gone, but a committed academic and boss like professor Osisanwodeserves to be praised and honoured by his colleagues, supervisees, mentees in Babcock University where he has worked and will continue to work meritoriously to the glory of God and the service of mankind. Thus, in the present circumstance of apparent dearth for genre creation through innovative application of evolving linguistic and literary theories to investigate current issues in hospitality, industry, the judiciary, and the Nigerian economy as a whole, these colleagues at different levels have written and complied this book to give all readers the opportunity to haverealistic and practical ways of improving and enhancingproductivity and efficiency in these sectors.
Without any doubt, Professor Osisanwo is a great mentor whose prowess spans across different fields of scholarship and human endeavour. Hence, his opinions and wealth of experience have not only impacted significantly on countless researches but also on different academics.
There is no better way to honour a grammar- made –easy professor who has rescued a lot of researchers from knotty grammatical issues especially through his explicit presentations of the rudiments of difficult areas of grammar. He has employed this student-friendly approach in teaching the various language classes to enhance pedagogy, create great enthusiasm in his classes and endear incredible number of students to the English language programme.
Professor Osisanwo is not only an academic scholar who has raised a good number of professors in the Nigerian academia, but a seasoned administrator who has served at several administrative levels as head of department, Dean and Deputy Provost. The humble spirit with which he has diligently carried out his duties has contributed to his evergreen (looking younger than his age) appearance. He has published seminal texts in grammar and discourse analysis amidst several other national and international papers.
Finally, on behalf of the team members for this publication, headed by Professor Mobolanle Sotunsa, We appreciate the Languages and Literary Studies Department of Babcock University and all the contributors who have supported this imitative. Many happy returns of the day. A seyis'amodun, igbaodun, odunkan.
