Abstract
In spite of the fact that a lot of research have been carried out on the relationship between ritual and theatre, the avenue for further research still abound. This study has specifically observed the Epe Ijebu variant of the Ebibi festival, taking a closer look at their human communication behavior; including the auditory, vocal, visual kinetics and semiological patterns of the ritual performance and its theatrical features, such as stage for performance, the characters, property and costumes, music and dance, and the various audiences which abound. This has led to the confirmation of the assertion that though ritual is not synonymous with theatre; all the early manifestations of theatre are embedded in ritual- The Ebibi Festival inclusive.
