Abstract
Virtually every aspect of human endeavor has been transformed by the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). The internet is one ICT that has impacted greatly on health-care delivery. Apart from providing a platform for health service providers to research and collaborate towards improved health-care delivery, the internet also connects health service consumers to the gamut of health related information which they can use to take informed decisions about their health. Access to online information is a way of empowering people and enhancing their ability to manage their health. However, seeking health information on the internet has medical, legal and ethical implications on the health information seeker. This paper discusses the pros and cons of seeking health information on the internet and advances some recommendations for users.
