Abstract

Eradicating extreme poverty continues to be one of the major challenges of developing countries like Nigeria, and is a major concern of the international community. Ending this menace will require the combined efforts of everybody. This is why information technology will remain a vehicle to Millennium Development Goals in this dispensation. This paper sets out as an evaluation of existing developments, and researches done comparing it to the expected goals set by European Union. To achieve this, the writers discourse the different roles information communication technology (ICTs) can play in reducing poverty, providing education and quality healthcare services for all, promoting gender equality and coping with environmental change and extreme climate events. The writers proffer solutions to all area of weaknesses which would help to facilitate the achievement of the stated goals come 2015.
