Abstract
Motivated employees are needed in every organization and the management of every organization needs to know the factors that motivate employees in order to adequately motivate them. Frederick Herzberg’s two-factor theory was among the very early models of motivation to be developed specifically for work applications. In his two-factor theory, Herzberg identified the factors that are perceived to motivate employees to work in an organization. However, it is one thing for the management of today’s organizations to be aware of these factors and yet another thing for them to adequately implement them and motivate their employees. This study, therefore, explores the details of Herzberg’s two-factor theory on employee motivation and highlights its implications for today’s organizations. It also suggests practical ways in which management of organizations can implement these factors.
