This ideological paper is intended to be an introduction to this issue of the journal, The Nigerian Cataloguer. It sensitizes cataloguers on some of the issues confronting them as professionals whose job sustenance is at stake. Cataloguing and classification is as old as the world because it started with creation and has been on attack since then. The paper is of the opinion that the major problem of cataloguers is ideological and inability to accept change and move with the global trend. The issues of original cataloguing, OPAC, copy cataloguing, online cataloguing, outsourcing, and quality cataloguing are raised as they affect cataloguing and librarianship. Solution is not near but librarians have to confront the issue. One of the solutions is forming a committee or a collaboration with other professions to rob minds and come up with a pronouncement.
