Abstract
For too long the system of teaching in our universities would appear to have been based on artificial classification of subjects for teaching convenience. Whether this assertion is true or not is not of importance in this paper. This paper seeks to move away from artificial classification of subjects to highlighting the interaction and interwoven nature of the law of tort and urban and regional planning policies and regulations, particularly as relates to the tort of nuisance. One major problem Nigeria law of tort of nuisance has appeared to face borders on the issue of uncertainty of what would constitute the wrong of nuisance in the circumstance of lack of strict adherence to and enforcement of planning law in Nigeria. The article discusses the challenge of nonimplementation of our planning laws and the complexities flowing therefrom in nuisance cases. It concludes by suggesting some steps to take to resolve issues.
