Abstract
It is generally recognized today that men control the destiny of a business. The success of any organization, be it a bank or any other commercial or industrial concern, private or public corporation, depends to a great extent on the people in the organization, their training and moral attitudes. Most people in our country Nigeria think of banks, only in impersonal terms, as they are mainly concerned or aware of the monetary transactions carried out in banks. It should be noted, however, that banks are much more than mere repositories of idle cash or sources of credit. Banks are operated by human beings and the quality of the people who work there determines their efficiency. The right quantity and quality of human capital can only be ensured through a carefully manned and well implemented educational system. This paper attempts to review and analysis the banking education in Nigeria by evaluating the current issues and challenges. Requisite suggestions will be proffered to enhance the steady growth and sustainability of competency and capacity building in the Nigerian banking industry.
