Abstract
Business exists in a constantly changing environment for the purpose of creating values that will satisfy the needs and wants of customers. A crucial question facing many organizations today is not whether to change in response to the rapidly changing environment, but precisely how to manage the change to survive and grow in future. There is need for organization to be strategised, re-position structurally and be quality conscious. By and large, it becomes germane for organization to embrace total quality management, which offers the methodology of best management practice aim specifically at meeting or exceeding customers’ requirements and expectations. The purpose of this paper is to examine the current paradigms of Total Quality Management, its “modus operandi†and the requirements for successful implementation of total quality management. The paper concludes that sound total quality management is a “sine qua non†to obtain the satisfaction of the customers and thereby attain organizational aims and objectives.
