Abstract
Electronic commerce has made the conduct of business more convenient both
at the national and international level. E-commerce as an alternative mode of
conducting commercial transactions is fast becoming a catalyst for economic
development of most countries, Nigeria inclusive. This paper will examine the
meaning and scope of e-commerce, types of e-commerce, prospects and
challenges which culminate in possible recommendations that will enhance the
effectiveness of e-commerce in Nigeria.
