Abstract
This work applies the approach of Formalism with a focus on the issues of events, characters, passages of excellence, philosophical thoughts and visions and other aesthetic features, which form the foundation of literary excellence, to demonstrate the depth of representations of these elements of classics or masterpiece in Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment. The elements of greatness elicited from the text inform the conclusion of the work and its opinion that Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment is, indeed, an excellent and great novel.
