Abstract
The study examined the relationship between the small and medium scale Enterprise and economic growth indicators such as employment, investors and income generation over the period of 1986 to 2007. The capital accumulation theory was adopted to the theoretical framework for undertaking the empirical work on the relationship between the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and employment, investment and income. In the investigation, integration and error correction model were employed. The study was able to establish a cointegrating relationship between the indicators, this justifies the specification of static regression estimated via OLS. The partial correlation result shows that there is a very strong positive relationship between Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and national income. Also, there is an equally strong positive relationship between Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and industrialization, while there is a very weak negative relationship between Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and employment creation. Policy implications are derived and recommendations made.
