Abstract
Performance level of any organization depends largely on the employees’ productivity level which is largely dependent on the work environment. Environment here consists of internal and external environment with major factors such as; the 7Ps, technology, economic, physical, social, political, and cultural. These elements no doubt have significant impact on employees’ productivity level which may be positive or negative. The study evaluated the importance of these elements on the performance of the employee. It also identified how the work environment especially the internal work environment can be improved upon so as to guarantee maximum productivity reviewing some theories of management, while guarding against the external environment. The research which was descriptive in nature revealed that job motivation, training & development, provision of adequate infrastructure, security of employees’ life and properties will all enhance employee’s productivity level. The study concluded that the economic growth and social development of any nation is dependent on the effectiveness and successful performance of the organizations which largely is as a result of the employees productivity rate. We therefore, recommended for the provision of security of lives and properties of the employees, and of all facilities that aid productivity.
