Human beings are social animals, creating social worlds, and our moral order through language and stories. Human beings are intrinsically religious beings. Religion has always had a strong influence on human societies, families, and individuals since the beginning of human history. To what extent does religion reinforce or collide with societal values, norms, and order and human actions, conduct, and standards? Do belief systems exert a greater control on human behavior than laws imposed by government? This Chapter explores the interplay between religious beliefs and social order, social control and human behavior.
