Abstract

There has been considerable interest in research involving humans in developing countries as is evident from the growing literature in this area. However, while there has been a focus on the ethics of research involving humans in developing countries, there has been little research on the governance of research in developing countries. Given the emerging governance arrangements in developing countries, a comprehensive focus on research governance, including the structure and effectiveness of these arrangements, is required. This paper raises questions and issues that research in this area should address.
