Abstract

Unemployment among University graduates is greatly on the increase and efforts have been put in place at different times by the government to fight this situation. Thus, the need for the present study to examine some psychosocial variables that could influence entrepreneurial self-efficacy of undergraduates in South West, Nigeria. One thousand, seven hundred and seventy-nine participants were randomly selected from eight tertiary institutions in Southwest, Nigeria. Multiple regression analysis was employed to determine the relationship among the variables as well as the joint and relative contributions of the independent variables to the prediction of the dependent variable (entrepreneurial self-efficacy). The result showed positive relationships between the independent variables (gender stereotype, risk-taking propensity, social capital, emotional intelligence, and creativity, locus of control and field of study) on entrepreneurial self-efficacy. A joint contribution of the independent variables on the dependent was also recorded for this study. This study, also conclusively found that all independent variables contributed relatively to the prediction of entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Implications for the study include the need for organizing training programmes to help focus factors in the undergraduates
