This paper looks at the need for teachers to be character builders by been the role model that students see and emulate. Kohlberg’s theory of moral development was used to explain the various levels of moral development that can be experienced by individuals. Though students have the right to choose how they will behave, teachers must role model character education in them by teaching basic values and principles of right and wrong to them. Developing good character in the students help capture the development of psychological traits that impact the child’s capacity and tendency to be socially and personally responsible
