Abstract

Electronic Information Resources (EIR) has enhanced accessibility, usability and effective retrieval of information for more productivity by users in their endeavors. The effective use of e-resources by users in public libraries generally depends on information literacy skill and awareness. The study adopted a Survey Design. Questionnaire was instrument used to collect data for the study and descriptive statistical method was used to analyze the data. Simple random sampling techniques were used to administer the questionnaire to users in Oyo State Library Board. The study revealed that aggregate; 70.7% of respondents were aware of the availability of electronic information resources and there is high level of information literacy among the users. It also revealed that frequent power outage, poor internet connectivity were the most critical factors militating against the utilization of electronic information resources. It is recommended that adequate power supply and efficient internet connectivity be provided in Public libraries in Nigeria.
