The concepts of creationism, dominionship and stewardship of land converge at the point ofthe creation of man. In essence, man is a rational, moral
being, who is finite: However, in contrast, God is infmite. In view of this, man possesses the elements of personality similar to God: that is thinking (Gen.2:l9-20, 3:8), feeling (Gen.3:6) and willing (Gen.3:6-7). It could therefore be implied that man has been given the express divine opportunity to act on "behalf' of God. This is where the claim of dominionship binges (" ... have dominion" -Gen. 1:26b). The divine creation of man and the right to "dominate" other creatures and God's creation has put some measure of responsibility on man. In other words, man is to oversee the use to which all of God's other creation is put. Within our context, man is to act as steward of land (which is part of God's work of creation).
