Sex education is a powerful force and its true meaning has to be revealed to adolescents to enable them make rational decisions based on self-control and personal code of conduct. The general objective of this study was to assess the level of knowledge of adolescents of sex education, examine the perception of adolescents towards sex education and identify preferred sources or modes of sex education among adolescents in Ilisan–Remo, Ogun state. So an in-depth assessment of the knowledge, perception and most preferred sources of sexuality education amongst adolescents is beneficial in learning about adolescents’ sexual behavior and their lifestyles in general. This study adopted the descriptive cross-sectional study design with a total of 251 participants. This study adopted a convenience sampling method in which senior secondary school students in the high school were used due to the accessibility and proximity of the students to the researcher. The study showed that the highest number of respondents, 52 percent sources of sex education was from their mothers. On respondents’ knowledge of sex education, 98 percent which is the highest said they had been taught about sexually transmitted diseases. On respondents’ perceptions about sex education, 94.0 percent agreed that sex education helps promote responsible sexual culture, 3.1 percent disagreed while 2.8 percent were indecisive. On sexual education helps promote health fulfilling relationships, 94.0 percent of the respondents agreed. 3.5 percent disagreed while 2.4 percent were undecided. On what sex education should cover 53.8 percent which was the highest chose sexually transmitted diseases. The results of this study showed that a large number of the respondents were aware of sex education and some of its implications. The most significant barrier parents’ face is shyness about teaching their children the practice and effect of sex education. There should be room for interaction between parents and children during adolescence. Teachers and counselors also have a vital role to play in educating students on sexuality education.
