Abstract

Care-giving has arguably become an imperative in contemporary Nigerian society, owing to a number of reasons which are not limited to urbanization and rising costs of living in Nigeria. Increasingly, parent/guardians are faced with the dilemma of care-giving, as the care-givers are likely to abuse the dependants under their care, resulting, in most cases, to a gross violation of their human rights or even death. What groups of dependants are more easily susceptible to caregiver violence? How do caregivers violate human rights? These questions, among others, continue to occupy the minds of individuals and governments, as well as organizations charged with the protection of human rights, and especially those of vulnerable
