Abstract

The study examined some prevailing factors influencing the menace of Terrorism in Nigeria within Ikenne Local government of Ogun state, Nigeria. It made used of random sampling of 250 participants. The mean age of the respondent was 39.2 while the standard deviation was 10.291.The ex-post factor research design was used. Twenty –four questions divided into 3 sub scales named Factors influencing Terrorism developed by Researchers was used in generating the data for the study. Data analysis involved the use of Multiple Regressions (Enter) and Pearson moment product correlation. The results indicated that the three independent variables contributed 58.8% of the menace of Terrorism in Nigeria. Also, level of literacy made the most contribution, follows by Employment & Poverty respectively. Finally, menace of terrorism is positively related to level of literacy (r=.725; p< .05); Employment (r=.663, p < .05) and Poverty (r=.369, p<05 r=.215;>.05), but a correlation with literacy levels (r =,467, p<.05). Also Employment was found with no correlation with either literacy level or poverty .On the basis of this following, It is then suggested that:

Terrorism are influenced by these three variables, Government should make education free at least to first degree level so that literacy level can be increased.

Government and cooperate bodies should create more jobs as it is observed that idle hands is a devil tools.
