Abstract

In the early years of library’s existence, searching for materials in the library require conscious effort, determination and perseverance. This was because the retrieval tools available were discouraging. A library catalogue is an indispensable and a vital tool that students, teachers and researchers need to access resources in the library. It facilitates effective use of library materials within a limited time. Sometimes, a user may not find all the documents on the shelf using shelf tags or shelf guides. Therefore, in order to know what is available in a library’s collection and have access to them, users must utilize a tool called ‘library catalogue’
