Abstract
The study sought to find out the influence of ICT Literacy and Skill on job performance of staff of Babcock University, Ogun State, Nigeria. Five hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The sample of the study consisted of 248 university workers randomly selected. Data were collected using ICT Literacy Scale (ICTLS), ICT Skill Scale (ICTS) which were both self-developed with a reliability index of 0.81 and 0.79 respectively and Job Performance Questionnaire (JPQ) with reliability index of 0.73. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMC) and Linear Regression Analysis at 0.05 level of significance. The result revealed a significant combined relationship among ICT literacy, ICT skill and job performance (r = .737, .387, .259, p < .05). There are significant positive relationships between ICT literary and job performance (r = .259, p < .05); ICT skills and job performance (r = .387, p < .05). ICT literacy does have an influence on job performance of male staff (? =.292, p<.05); ICT literacy does not have any influence on job performance of female staff (? =.164, p<.05). Furthermore, the result of the analysis revealed an influence of ICT skill on job performance of male staff (? =.332, p<.05) and female staff (? =.448, p<.05). Based on the findings of this study, it is concluded that ICT literacy and skill determines how well employees in Babcock University perform their job. While ICT skill is very predictive for male and female employees’ job performance, ICT literacy is more predictive for male than for female staff. It is therefore recommended that Babcock University management should employ and redeploy information and communication technology personnel in all the departments and units to plan and execute result oriented information literary education for staff and faculty as well as ensuring that there are functional ICT tools for staff members to use in various departments.
