Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of reducing disruptive classroom behaviour among junior secondary school students in Ijebu-Ode local government area of Ogun state. Self-statements monitoring technique was employed to reduce some disruptive classroom behaviour among public junior secondary school pupils in Ijebu-Ode local government area. Eighty (80) junior secondary school students participated in the study. A likert type scale titled Pupils Classroom Disruptive Behaviour Assessment Scale (PCDPAS) was administered on them. The instrument was false validated with the keep of experts and was later subjected to test-retest treatment, using analysis of covanance (ANCOVA) and standardized E-test were used to analyse the data. The post-test outcome conformed that self-statement monitoring techniques could lead to reduction of disruptive behaviours among secondary school students. It was therefore suggested that counsellors be given more prominent place in the reduction of disruptive and maladjusted behavior in the school system.
