The Influence of Information Technology Use on Teaching and Learning in Nigerian Universities.

Abstract
The study was carried out to ascertain the influence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) use on the teaching and learning in Nigerian Universities using Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as a case study. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. Proportional random sampling technique was adopted to select fifty (50) lecturers and one thousand, five hundred and forty-five (1,545) students. Two research questions and two hypothesis were formulated and tested in the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire consisting of fourteen (14) items on four Linkert points: Strongly Agree= 4, Agree= 3, Disagree= 3 and, Strongly Disagree= 1. The collected data was analyzed using chi-square (X2). The major findings and inferences from the study are that the use of ICT facilities, by lecturers of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta has a positive influence on their teaching and research. Also the use of ICT facilities by students of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta influenced on positively on their learning and academic performance. Recommendations were made for a continuous capacity building for lecturers and students. Also, every student should be encouraged to have a laptop, while university authorities should continuously improve the availability of ICT facilities on campus. The need for improved power supply on campus was highlighted.
