Abstract
The history of post-independence Nigerian mass media describe their roles in Nigerian politics as disreputable. In the 2015 Presidential Election in Nigeria, the role of the broadcast media, particularly the Federal Government owned NTA, whose incumbent boss was contesting a return on the platform of a political party, Channels Television owned by a seeming nonpartisan proprietor, and privately owned TVC, owned by a chieftain of another major party that presented a candidate for the presidential election, came under the searchlight In this study, the researcher investigated how electorates in Lagos State interpreted the roles of these three television stations, h found sufficient empirical evidence to conclude that public perception of ownership affected electorates’ assessment of the selected television stations' editorial content.
