Abstract

The study investigated the impact of family structures like, income, length of marriage, educational level, types of marriage and number of children on health life of randomly selected families. It adopted ex-post facto research design in which two hundred families were selected within Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State. Four hypotheses were tested and were analyzed by the use of Multiple Regression, Independent t-test and Pearson product moment correlation. All hypotheses were tested at 0.05 levels of significant. The findings revealed that family structures contributed 26.9% to healthy living. Correlation co-efficient indicated that all the variables are significant and showed a perfect correlation to each other. T-test indicated significant differences in health of low income earners and high income earners. From the result of this study, it is therefore recommended that:

Families should strive to attain a better educational level so that they will be more conscious of healthy living.

The Government and Corporate Enterprises should look into wages and salaries, so that more money will be available for a better healthy life.

The low income earners should limit the number of children and dependents so as to live a healthier life.
