Abstract
The goal of higher education is to produce employable graduates. Employability refers to the personal attributes and skills that graduates need to find and retain the desired employments in their chosen fields. Self-perceived employability is students’ rating of the various skills and competencies they possess which could help them secure gainful employment. This study investigated undergraduate students’ perception of their employability with the view to identifying the factors that contribute to employability of Library and information management students. The survey was carried out among the entire graduating class of the Department of Information Resources Management, Babcock University and Department of Library and Information Science, Tai Solarin University of Education in Ogun state. Specifically, employability skills like library and information management skills, information technology skills, research skill, communication skills, self-management and interpersonal skills were examined. Data was collected with a structured questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive statistics. The results have implications for Library and Information Science education.
