Background: Lithobezoar refers to stones within the gastrointestinal tract. Most often found in children, they can precipitate intestinal obstruction, mimicking a variety of mediccal and surgical conditions.
Patients and Methods: A case of an 11 years old boy with obstruction due lithobezoar is presented
Rresult: A 5kg load of stones was successfuly evacuated nonoperatively from the rectum after a plain radiological confirmation of lithobezoar.
Conclusion: Lithobezoar is a cause of intestinal obstruction in children. the diagnosis of lithobezoar requires a high index of suspicion. Non operative transrectal manual evacuation of the stones is a feasible treatment modality that could help avoid costly surgical operations.
