One of the cardinal objectives of deposit money banks is to maximise the profit threshold in the interest of the diverse stakeholders. However, recent developments indicated diminution of the investment portfolio coupled with a rise in the trend of non-performing loans, low profitability, decline in return on equity and reduction in dividend records. The extent to which deposit money banks have deployed skills in the area of Strategic risk assessment as a tool for enhancing the performance of the deposit money banks has not received much attention from scholars. Consequently, this study investigated the relationship between strategic risk assessment and profitability of deposit money banks in Lagos State, Nigeria. Survey research design was adopted for this study. The study population comprised 96 staff which were made up of Chief Risk Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Audit Executives, and Head of Corporate Strategy. The entire population was used for the study considering that the number involved is not too large to work with. A validated self-structured instrument with Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficients ranging from 0.818 and 0.877 was administered with 85.4% response rate.
