Bipagous conjoint twin in Ebonyi State: Detailed account and literature review

Abstract

On the 18th of September 2004, the first ever- recorded set of “Siamese” twins in Ebonyi State presented in our hospital. The twins were born alive, in a rural clinic, via spontaneous vaginal delivery, by a widow, who also accompanied them to our hospital 4hours after delivery. They were both females joined from thorax to the hypogastrium. They were quickly transferred to another hospital, where they died after 3days. Post mortem revealed that all the joinings were at skin level-o organs were shared.
