Nine microbial contaminants comprising of five bacteria and four fungi species were isolated from Hibiscus cannabinuil and Telfaria occidentalis cultured tissues. The rate of occurrence of bacteria
isolates was highe than that of fungi. The bacterial isolates includes Pseudomonas syringae pv phaseolicoli, Bacill s licheniformis, Bacillus subtilis, Corynebacterium sp and Erwini« sp. While fungal
contarninats inciud?'s Aitemeria tenius, Aspergiiius niqer, Aspergiiius iumiqetus and Fusarium culmorum. Poss ble sources of contamination and means of eliminating these contaminants is
discussed.
