Abstract
This paper addresses Boko Haram’s attacks on girls and women rights as citizens and also the involvement of terrorist operations as part of its objectives and aims to eradicate western education and establish an Islamic caliphate in North-East Nigeria. Terrorism is a global phenomenon which has evolved over decades and cut across continents, it’s a destructive wind that does not bring any country good. Recently, Nigeria as a country has been affected by the ugly terrorist group which in all ramification has brought international recognition negatively since its first attacked carried out in Bauchi prison on September 7th, 2010 and the famous Chibok experience in 14th April, 2014. As an empirical case study, the paper examines how and why women and girls rights have become very central to Boko-Haram’s reign of terror in Nigeria. The paper further examines the consequences of the terrorist attacks, infringement of rights, assaults, and the response of the government.
