Abstract
Research provides insight into any subject of enquiry by supplying relevant information necessary to assist a researcher with ideas and how to think in resolving a problem. In conducting research, researchers utilize various tools for data collection and analysis. These include data, instruments for data collection, analyzing and receiving inferences or conclusion. Research often time is thought of in terms of subjects and findings only and no real discussion is held about the methods to be employed to effectively answer the research questions which are themselves the central ideas broken into specific statements of problems which the research intends to answer by deploying responses, research methods and instruments together with a validation of instrument. This paper was divided into two parts. Part one opens with an introduction and went on to discuss research methods and types, distinction between quantitative and qualitative research. Part two discusses the purposes of quantitative research, main steps in quantitative research, a case for its adoption in legal studies, some research tools, recommendation and conclusion. Expectedly, the paper hopes to assist researchers with knowledge, some research tools and steps on how to conduct quantitative research.
