BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES AND THE LAW OF CONTRACT: THE CREATOR’S NARRATIVE

ABSTRACT:
God is the creator and the source of life and existence. Humans are made in God’s image, in His glory, after His likeness and for His pleasure. God is indeed an interested party in the life of humans, and He is rightfully involved in all aspects of human endeavours. Hence, the bible is full of principles and instructions designed to govern all facets of human life, including; marriage, divorce, health, diet, child bearing, family, leadership, discipline, love, business, settlement of disputes, and contractual obligations. The objective of this chapter is the biblical principles and instructions regarding contractual obligations. It establishes the interrelationship, relevance,and similarities between biblical principles and contemporary legal principles on contract. To achieve the aforementioned objective, this chapter adopted a logical and extensive analysis of relevant contractual principles of law of contract, its relevance and application in the bible, thereby contributing to the development of the curriculum in faith-based institutions
