TALENT MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYEE JOB SATISFACTION OF SELECTED COMMERCIAL BANKS IN LAGOS STATE

Abstract
Talent management practice is gaining prominence in the international scene intelleaually and professionally. Scarcity of talented workforce is a global issue, even the Nigerian commercial banks are finding it difficult to atiroct and retain talented employees. Hence, the need for the study on talent management and employee job satisioaion in seleaed commercial banks in Lagos State, Nigeria. Survey research design was adopted for the study and the population consisted 41, 191 employees of the five selected commercial banks in Lagos State. The Yamane (1967) formula was used to deduce the sample size of 520 bank employees. The respondents were stratified and administered questionnaires. The research instrument was validated and Cronbach's Alpha co-efficient values for the constructs showed reliability (0.847, 0.809, 0.932, 0.861 and 0.788). The data gathered were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The result of multiple regression analysis showed that there is a significant effea of talent attraction, talent development, talent retention and talent utilization on incentives among employees of commercial banks in Lagos State at the value of (p= 000, R=.514, p<.05). In conclusion, talent management contributes immensely towards the level of employee job satistoaion within the banking industry. The study recommends that the board of directors of commercial banks should expand employees' opportunities for personal development in order to enhance employees' sense of belonging to the organization, in'.:1 ease retention level as well as increase financial and nonfinancial incentives to guaranty higher employee job satisfaaion.
