Abstract
Low back pain (LBP) is the leading cause of disability worldwide with chronic LBP accounting for this nagging disability with devastating consequences. This entity is a huge burden to the individual, family and country as it accounts for a high rate of job loss, productive hours and economic drain. There are challenges in the management of patients with this problem as different modalities have been employed, some of which have not proven to be effective. Being a condition that requires multidisciplinary care, various treatment strategies have been put to use by the different specialists involved with differing outcomes noticed in patients with chronic low back pain. Our review was set out to bring to the fore the current management of low back pain. Different management guidelines and research articles were reviewed with an attempt to highlight important facts that will help in the management of this troubling condition.
