Abstract
Job satisfaction is crucial in all organizations including public university libraries. Job satisfaction of library officer in public universities in South-West, Nigeria has for sometime been declining. Lack of job satisfaction could cause, low job success, low job productivity and complaints. There is abundant evidence to support self-efficacy as predicting factors of job satisfaction elsewhere. However, not much has been done on their influence on job satisfaction of library officers in South-West, Nigeria. Therefore, this investigation is conducted to find out how self-efficacy could affect the job satisfaction of library officers in public universities in South-West, Nigeria. Survey research design was used for the study. The population was 171 library officers. Total enumeration was utilized and data were collected using questionnaire that was validated by experts. Test of reliability was also done and the Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients for the constructs in the self developed questionnaire were 0.85 for Self-efficacy and 0.94 for Job satisfaction. The return rate was 83.6% (143) Data were analyzed using descriptive and correlation statistics The findings revealed that a significant positive relationship exist between self-efficacy had job satisfaction of library officers in public universities in South-West Nigeria (r =.462, p < 0>
