Abstract
In the face of plurality of Christian denominations, many people are made to believe that being a Christian is equivalent to belonging to a particular Christian denomination, attending worship services regularly, and supporting the ministries and activities of the Church financially and otherwise. However, in the Sermon on the Mount, preached in the 1st Century AD (about 2,000 years ago), Jesus Christ Himself delineated the various qualities, characteristics, behavioural and lifestyle patterns that characterise His followers. For Christ, being a Christian or a follower of Christ means to go beyond the boundaries set by the religious leaders at any given time and place in human history. It means embracing the radical teachings of Christ in the Sermon on the Mount and the rest of the Bible and living according to them. In view of this, this book explores what Jesus taught those who heard Him on the Mount. This sets the stage for Christians today who read these messages in the Gospels from the Third Party perspective to understand the contemporary implications of Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount.
