Abstract

Seeds deteriorate rapidly under ambient condition of the humid tropics, resulting in poor seed quality and crop productivity. Cold storage for seeds is not economically feasible; especially in Nigeria where power is epileptic. Thus, the effects of containerized-dry seed storage on seed vigour were investigated for low input seed conservation at ambient temperature (30 degrees Celsius). Seed viability and vigour of maize were preserved for about four months in storage.
