Half of a Yellow Sun is not just a story of the horrors of the Nigerian Civil War Adichie Refreshingly explores some thematic concerns through which the harrowing experiences of the war are highlighted, particularly the themes of war, human Brutality and bestiality among others. Beyond those thematic concerns, this paper undertook a reinterpretation of the text in order to bring out some salient contradictions inherent within the plot movement, symbols and the characters. Using Deconstruction Theory, as its main tool, the paper teased out the ambiguities and contradictions inherent within the text and as well suggested the other meaning possibilities to the text. The paper concludes that notwithstanding the issue of war and love story, the text deconstructs itself in several aspects.
