Abstract
This paper carries out an aesthetic evaluation of a live drum poetry performance in the context of the performance. It describes and analyses the performance techniques, kinesis and other literary devises employed in the drum poetry performance. The paper explores, in detail, the levels of complexities and expressiveness demonstrated in the drum performance. The paper posits that an aesthetic evalutation of drum poetry performance trancends the possibilities of the language and vocal media, which form its basis, to exploit the aural/acoustic media. The paper therefore concludes that one of the most innovative contributions of Nigerian poetry is epitomised in drum poetry performances.
