Abstract
This study was undertaken to evaluate the level of malnutrition among infants of (5) year old in Beere area. A total of 250 questionnaire were administered out of which 150 questionnaire were recovered. Results were subjected to descriptive statistics. Sixty seven (67 percent) male and (33 percent) female children whose mothers spoke on their behalf, took part in the investigation. Majority (77percent) mothers were road side traders while (23 percent) mothers were farmers. Majority (60percent) children were breast fed twice a day (malnutrition), while (40 percent) children were breast fed trice a day. Majority (47 percent) children suffered from kwashiorkor while 43 percent children had marasmus disease. Hospitals birth records of these children revealed that majority 77 percent fell sick and received medical treatment to survive, while 23 percent children died from disease complication. The good news is that most hospitals and health care delivery can treat most childhood diseases.
