Abstract
The challenges of terrorism and its implications worldwide made the death of Osama bin Laden a global issue that this study examined. Born in 1957 into a wealthy family, Osama embraced Islamic fundamentalism since youth. He became rich, supported and used by the American government during the ten years of Afghan war (1989-99), thereafter forming the al Qaeda movement. The study observed that many terrorist acts were coordinated and conducted by the al Qaeda, the climax of which was the September 11 2001, bombing of the World Trade Center and Pentagon in United States of America (US)-a situation which led to his man hunt and eventual assassination on May 1 2011. The study noted that the assassination will enhance the prestige of US Worldwide and the political status of Obama subject to the state of US economy. This might also temporarily improve the global economy. However, the assassination of Osama might not be the end of terrorism. The study therefore recommended citizens education to minimize religious indoctrination, increased vigilance Worldwide, Western powers to understand and respect the core values of other nations, while developing nations to ensure socio - economic transformation to alleviate poverty and unemployment. The study was primarily descriptive and data and information obtained from secondary sources while the analysis was qualitative upon which deductions and recommendations were made.
