Abstract
In this study, the elemental screening of Dennettia tripetala was investigated. The elements involved include Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Zn, P, Mn, Se and Na. The parts of the plant that were extracted are; leaf, fruit, stem, root and bark. The analysis of the extracts was done in the laboratory of the department of Forestry Resources Management, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Mean values of each element in each part of the plant were calculated, Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed to compare the means within the plant’s parts and where variation exists, and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used to separate the mean. It was discovered that Potasium (K) has the highest mean values in all the plant’s parts with the highest value in the fruit part (291.500) while Zinc (Zn) and Manganese (Mn) have the lowest mean values, but the least discovered in Mn (0.039) and was found in the root of Dennettia tripetala. This is due to the fact that K, a macro element and is highly needed in large quantity while Zn and Mn happen to be micro elements which their small quantities are appropriate in living things.
