Abstract
This study examined audience perception of credibility of social media platform as source of information among undergraduates, using Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State as a case study. The study adopted uses and gratification and perception theory. The methodology involved the application of the descriptive survey research design. A sample size of 392 was drawn from undergraduates in Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State using multiple sampling technique and the questionnaire as the research instrument. Olabisi Onabanjo University undergraduates were exposed to social media information on South Africa xenophobia attacks to a high extent. Participants agreed that South Africa xenophobia attack information on the social media was credible. Finally, there is a significant relationship between exposure to social media xenophobia attack information and dependence on social media for xenophobia attack information. Members of the public are encouraged to desist from the various abuses in the usage of the social media for the interest of greater number of Nigerians
